So it was Monday, and I had an 0800 lab lecture to which I was twenty minutes late due to traffic and a late departure. But other than that, I think things are turning upward. Last week’s festival of poo may have had its origins in a passing of bad karma from my organic chemistry lab TA. I broke a Büchner funnel and told him. His response: “Thank GOD. Everything I’ve done today has been completely wrong. So now I can pass my bad karma to you.” Coincidence, the power of suggestion, or whatever else – I’ve had better weeks.

In contrast, today I successfully rode the bus between the 1604 and downtown campuses, saving 40 miles of driving, and I didn’t get lost, boosting my feelings of competence as a human. Then I did well at a work presentation because I was prepared. Work is starting to take shape, and I think we have a good team.

It’s amazing what a little planning can do. As my parents said to me a few times, and my more responsible self says to my sometimes lazy self: poor planning on your part does not constitute a crisis on my part. Last night, even though I desperately wanted to watch Grey’s Anatomy, it was late, and Joel suggested that I do some work instead since the show will be there later. I whined a lot and pouted, but he was right, and I thank him. Now if I really learned something, I’ll do some work again tonight before I watch the show.
