As I may have mentioned before, I sell a lot of stuff on half.com and ebay, mostly books. Occasionally I sell clothes or electronic or computer equipment, but mostly the books. While I only ship Priority Mail for ebay transactions (which means not having to leave the house), books are usually requested to ship via Media Mail, which means I have to go to the post office. Which means I have to wait in line. Which means hearing the nasal “May I help you” (declarative, not interrogative) of [name withheld, since Joel thinks what I said was rude], the ever-present robot postal employee approximately nine times per visit. It also means hearing the annoyed sighs of the other patrons, many of whom are needlessly waiting in line to pick up a package or buy a single stamp with cash, not thinking to go to the dedicated package pick-up window or use the actual robot to buy stamps in the lobby, prolonging the wait of those of us with legitimate waiting-in-line business. It sounds like I’m complaining, but when I have nothing better to do, as today, the whole trip is rather amusing, and selling our stuff (particularly my science textbooks) brings in a nice little extra sum, so it’s worth it. Still, I’m checking into these automated postal centers and their capabilities. I am awaiting a response as the website did not have the answer to my question.

On my way home from the post office, I noticed that the “rival” newly constructed neighborhood next to ours had fixed their entry sign in record time. They were tagged two days ago with several colors of spray paint, and all traces of that mishap are gone. I dislike vandals.

With the C-section scheduled, the crib on its way, and the little details coming together, I’m feeling quite calm at the moment. I think I will take the dogs on an early walk – they have been good today.
