She did it!

Amanda ran her marathon! We are so proud of her. She finished the 26.2 miles in Atlanta on Sunday like a champ, and Zoe, Mom, and I were there to see it. Not only did she train for and complete the run, she raised $3600 to fight cancer in the process. I am touched as a sister and a cancer survivor that she and people like her have made such a commitment and contributed so much to the research that saves lives. The whole event was quite exciting and emotional, and I was so glad to be there. Congratulations to my amazing sister – Team Amanda!

Zoe did extremely well on her first trip! We had ventured out only for one or two errands at a time prior to taking a 2+ hour flight and exploring the big city of Hotlanta for two days. She mostly slept on the plane. The rest of the time she took it all in – new people and places, a quick pace, and lots of hustle and bustle. And she looked great doing it. 😉 Here I go, becoming one of “those mothers” – but my baby is the best. I’m a very lucky Mama.

The trip gave me a lot of confidence, too. We had a lot of help from those around us, of course. It’s good to know that we’re not housebound, or even Texasbound; Zoe is quite resilient and eager to experience new things, and I’m capable of handling more adventure (with a baby in tow) than I had thought. That’s comforting, since the movers are loading our things as I type.
