Today was our last official dissection. We’ll be in lab Wednesday and then for reviews and the practice and real practical exams, but I felt like today was important. We have done and learned so much. I was looking for a piece of skin to test the sharpness of our scalpel blade, and I couldn’t even find a small piece. Stripped of skin and fascia, most humans look about the same. It seems like yesterday that we raised the cadavers for the first time. How did this go by so quickly?
In January, there will be a ceremony to acknowledge the contribution of the people who donated their bodies to our education. I wrote our guy a haiku to honor him:
To us, you were Frank.
You taught us anatomy.
We hope you rest well.
In case there is ever a question, be it known that I plan to donate my body in a similar fashion.

Hopefully the donor card in my wallet will allow someone to use my working parts and pieces, but if that’s not the case – then put me on a table, cuz there’s a LOT of history in this here body!
For real! I wish they would include a full medical history. It’s so fascinating.
