Today I got my family back. The Munchkin’s highly anticipated hug was even better than I had hoped. I’m so glad they had a safe trip. I think it was good for all of us.
Our dinner was scrumptious; best pie ever, if I do say so myself. This was our first real holiday on our own. Joel and I spent Thanksgiving with our other family-less friends in California when we were there in 2003, so we weren’t really on our own then. It was different to be just the three of us tonight: small, few frills, simple, very little waste. We love being with our families of course, but this was nice, too.
Zoe is now counting to ten, probably encouraged by her Daddy’s offer to match her counting abilities with her favorite candy ever, M&Ms. She went from “one, two, m” last weekend to ten in just a few short days. She is also frequenting her potty chair and wearing pull-ups. To no one’s surprise, however, she made a beeline for the ample tatas, so we’re back to square one there. Neither of us was too committed to quitting anyway. In time… in time.
I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!
