Reflection on reflection

12.01.08 | Comment?

Ahhhh I almost made it before midnight tonight.

Tomorrow I go back to school, officially, even though I’ve studied every day of this “break.” Still, it was a good break and true, and I got some rest. I have enjoyed writing every day for NaBloPoMo. Now I’m ready to bust a move for the next three weeks. With tests approaching, my posts here may/should be less frequent (or not, given my propensity for procrastinating). Resolved: I will pass. ALL. Of my tests.

Joel suggested on our run (yes, we went running! All five of us.) tonight that one should probably write every day but not necessarily post it. I agree for the most part, as I think posting for posting’s sake can cause the quality to suffer. (An old Garfield comic comes to mind: Jon reads a letter from his farm-dwelling family. “Dear Jon, The chicken died.” He posits, “Probably from boredom.” Man, I used to love Garfield. I had all the books.) Kind of like when I wrote Joel a letter nearly every day during his training. During our moves I have found them here or there and reread some of them. I’m shocked that he still married me. I think they could have used some editing.

Then I think about my journal proper that goes unwritten in for months at a time. Somewhere there’s a middle ground. Maybe some of what I air here is TMI, or oversharing, as Rachel calls it. Maybe some of it is too shallow or middle of the road out so as not to cause problems in my personal or professional life. These are risks I’m willing to take. I like having the outlet.
