Lately I have been thinking a lot about patterns, like routines, habits, schedules. How do you get over the hump to break a bad one or start a new, better one? I believe that one of the big differences between success and failure has to do with whether you’re able to barrel over that hump or collapse in a bony heap in the face of it. Right now I’d appreciate a leveler of some kind.

I totally agree with you. I read a book several years ago – The Power of Habit: http://www.amazon.com/Power-Habit-Harnessing-Establish-Guarantee/dp/1410779955/ref=sr_1_14?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1233544585&sr=8-14
He talks a lot about replacing bad habits with good ones. I’m not generally a fan of self-help books, but I think it was a good one. Of course, I still pinch my neck. I would let you borrow it, but I don’t know what I’ve done with it.
