Zoe’s new favorite word is definitely “no.” Whatever question you ask her, the answer is “Noooo,” complete with an emphatic head-shake. It’s cute, not adamant, because sometimes she seems to mean yes, and she’s just saying “no” because it’s her favorite.
This morning she stirred at 6:53AM, a mere 7 minutes before my alarm [...]
(Happy 17-month birthday, Zoe! Props to Joel for capturing this. As if any moment is better than another, be sure to catch Zoe raising the roof at the end.)
So far so good! We had our first set of lectures today - biochemistry - and a brief talk about coping with the medical curriculum. I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity of this program. I am a wee bit rusty, and this is just the jump start I need. [...]
Tomorrow the pre-entry program begins! My Mom arrived this afternoon, the house is unpacked with mostly everything in its place, and I think I have the details worked out to get to school in the morning.
I would say that I hope I’m doing the right thing, but I am more confident than that. [...]
We took Zoe for her belated 15 month checkup today. She is 21.5 pounds and 31.5 inches, with a head circumference of 18.5 inches. For some reason we thought her next checkup was at 18 months (that reason being that our Dallas pediatrician told us that would be the next one), though oddly [...]

After the unpacking (which is still not entirely finished) comes the more intangible part of settling into our new place.
This is a long one, y’all. If you want to skip the long-winded, Blake-centered ranting and go straight to the cute video of Zoe manipulating the iPhone, please be my guest.
I am very seriously obsessed with Zoe. Nightly I find myself on Flickr, pouring over her current and older photos, wondering how in the world she is so perfect.
Tonight it was just what I needed after a major home decor fail. Who cares about stupid shelves when there’s a Zoe in the world?
First, find some sketchy food to eat. Get a short night of sleep. The next day, eat more fruit than you normally would eat, as if it were the only available nourishment. Then spend some time in the heat doing light to moderate manual labor. Go for a long swim. [...]
This morning the whole family took a refreshing swim in our complex’s lagoon-like pool, followed by a nap for Zoe and some much-needed unpacking for Mama.
Later we explored a nearby park and ventured to the “Super” Wal*Mart. Turns out it wasn’t so super, as the smattering of groceries available was insufficient to complete my [...]
