After the unpacking (which is still not entirely finished) comes the more intangible part of settling into our new place.
This is a long one, y’all. If you want to skip the long-winded, Blake-centered ranting and go straight to the cute video of Zoe manipulating the iPhone, please be my guest.
I am very seriously obsessed with Zoe. Nightly I find myself on Flickr, pouring over her current and older photos, wondering how in the world she is so perfect.
Tonight it was just what I needed after a major home decor fail. Who cares about stupid shelves when there’s a Zoe in the world?
Today we addressed the issue of our “yard” by going to Lowe’s and getting a few bags of cedar mulch, a roll of weed-resistant blanket stuff, and a few bags of pine bark nuggets. Zoe frolicked in the garden center, and by the time we got home she was asleep. The rest of [...]
This morning the whole family took a refreshing swim in our complex’s lagoon-like pool, followed by a nap for Zoe and some much-needed unpacking for Mama.
Later we explored a nearby park and ventured to the “Super” Wal*Mart. Turns out it wasn’t so super, as the smattering of groceries available was insufficient to complete my [...]

Me: Maybe it behooves me to be short.
Joel: How does it behoove you to be short?
Me: I’m very agile. Nimble. [...]
The past few mornings Zoe has decided to wake up very early (for her), much to my chagrin, since I have been staying up too late packing and then generally wasting time. Today was the same, and being the lazy mother I am, once it became apparent that she was absolutely done sleeping, I [...]
…and I’m glad she was born 26 years ago today. Happy Birthday, my sweet Sister!
Look what she made, too - she’s so talented!
I generally aim to smell neutral, if not pleasant. My hygiene since becoming a mother has had its questionable periods, but on average I bathe or shower at least once a day. And except for a few months during and after my cancer experience when I did not use deodorant (or anything else [...]
